Have you ever needed to move something up a flight of stairs and wanted to do it without outside help? After years of struggling, I had this great idea one day, and figured I would share it.
For this to work, you need to be able to lift the thing by your self, but just one step. You also need a helper to move the fidget.
The fidget is a little table looking thing. It is as wide as your staircase. It is as deep as one step on your staircase. It is as tall as two steps on your staircase. I built mine out of some 2x4's and 2x'6's I had left over from building a deck. It needs to be strong as you are going to be putting half the weight of the thing you are lifting on it.
Here is how I use the fidget. I lift and or slide the piece to be moved up as many steps on the stair case as I can. Generally I can get a few. Than I lift the piece to be moved up, and my SO takes the fidget and sticks that it steps back and under the back end of the piece to be moved. Now I can go and rest for a while, the piece it sitting level with no energy being spent. Once I have rested I can fight it up another step, and rest again.
I have had things take half a day to move all the way, but generally, if I can lift it at all, with the fidget, I can get it up the stairs.
