Still on wheels
Just got done with a consult with the chair of Sports Medicine at the university hospital where I receive my medical care. FINALLY, some competent answers. He confirmed that I do indeed have a fracture of the distal femur/lateral condyle with minor intrusion into the joint space. He also says surgical fixation is not necessary and that if the union remains as it is now, it will heal fine on its own.
He'll see me again in three weeks for more x-rays, at which time I should just about glow in the dark. Until then, no weight bearing WHATSOEVER. If the union looks stable, he might give the go-ahead for limited weight bearing with my prosthesis and a walker. So, not quite out of the wheelchair yet, but getting there by baby steps.

Hi, I to am glad that you have received competent advise from a physician who should be highly qualified. Now just do your best to tolerate the W/C for a few more weeks. (A Roho cushion will help a lot.)

Dear LadyDoc,
Well, it sounds like this visit went better than the last one. Thanks for keeping us up date. How is the house hunting going?
Hugs,
Lady Teddy

Ladydoc, that's somewhat better news. Maybe not so much time in a wheelchair after all. I'm pullin' for 'ya! Keep us informed.
