Waiting to exhale
And breathing a sigh of relief.
The call came from the gynecologist's office this morning. The results from my PAP smear are back and they are normal. PHEW! I don't care how healthy you are, anyone would have a few anxious moments waiting for the results of that test. Cervical cancer is such a sneaky devil.
Lesson learned: go every year and get checked. Don't let fear turn you away. I was treated for a pre-cancerous cervical condition about 20 years ago. Since denial ain't just a river in Egypt, I was reluctant to go back in case the condition, or something worse, had reared its ugly head. I've already made my appointment for next year's GYN check-up and my mammogram. How about you?

Congrats on the great health reports, LadyDoc! Yes, I have the yearly PAP and mammo, plus a heart ultrasound and breast MRI. Cancer, among other things, can creep up on you before you know it, but early detection is best! Keep up the good work!

Oh skybear, that sounds like no fun at all. I give my patient much more consideration than that during his flight physical (that's the one where I send him to the moon) and all the others too!
Thanks for the good thoughts.

Congrats on the clean bill of health.
Surprisingly, I have an appointment with my OB-GYN for Aug 10. I Don't think a pap smear in the cards. Flight physical with a nut grab and DRE is all that is expected.
Again I shall be violated, poked and prodded without so much as a kiss, thanks or flowers. And will he call the next day? NO. I need a hug!
