Jeanie’s Unorthodox Weekly Reminder
Chapter 8: Jeanie and Eddie Ask Each Other a Few Questions
As they put on their clothing, Eddie asked if they could sit on the couch in the living room because he wanted to discuss a few things.
Good, Jeanie thought, this will be my chance to discuss ‘her.’
In the living room, Eddie said he wanted to read something to Jeanie. He went to the bookshelf and retrieved his well-worn copy of The Godfather. On the couch, as Eddie found the right page in the novel, Jeanie snuggled up to him. Eddie read out loud to Jeanie the story of Michael Corleone who was hit with the thunderbolt the first time he saw Apollonia.
“Michael’s heart was pounding in his chest; he felt a little dizzy. The blood was surging through his body, through all its extremities and pounding against the tips of his fingers, the tips of his toes…. It was nothing like his adolescent crushes…. This was an overwhelming desire….. This was an unerasable printing of the girl’s face on his brain and he knew she would haunt his memory ever day of his if he did not have her.”
And because Apollonia was young, not yet out of her teens, Michael worried that she might think him too old for her.
Michael formerly met Apollonia on the Sunday after he first saw her and then visited her the next Sunday and then every day for two weeks when they formerly became engaged and were married two weeks later.
Eddie closed the book and set it down on the couch beside him.
“Do you remember that Friday after class when I told you girls that I finally had been hit with a thunderbolt?”
“Yes, I do. And inside, I have been quietly sad about that ever since because I knew that meant you were off the market. I’m glad that in spite of your thunderbolt, you could still help me with my spanking reminders to study hard and get good grades. I’m glad that she doesn’t mind that you’re helping me, whoever she is, probably some really hot professor. Wait. Eddie, she does know about me, doesn’t she? And she doesn’t mind that you are reminding me to study hard and get good grades, right?”
“She knows all about you, Jeanie, and she doesn’t mind at all. In fact, I think she thinks our little reminder arrangement with spankings and now enemas is rather wonderful.”
“Wait! What? She doesn’t mind the spankings and the enemas and what about the shower? She seems very open minded. She not just okay with it. You say she thinks it’s wonderful?”
“Well, I’m pretty sure she thinks it’s wonderful.”
“Eddie, you really need to ask her.”
“Do you think our spankings and enemas are wonderful?”
“Of course, I do, Eddie, but like I just said, you need to ask her.”
“I am asking her, Jeanie. Do you think what we are doing is wonderful?”
Eddie gazed softly into Jeanie’s bewildered eyes.
“She’s not a professor. She’s a student,” hinted Eddie.
Awareness began to dawn on the girl and her heart fluttered with hope.
“Miss Goodwin, she’s the only student I knew by name that first week of the semester.”
Jeanie remembered that fateful Friday evening in his office. He had called her “Miss Goodwin” and when she questioned him on it, he admitted to knowing only the name of one student. Now he was saying that that student caused his thunderbolt…
I think he's talking about me!! she thought. When Eddie smiled broadly and cocked his head to the side. He is talking about me!!
Jeanie threw her arms around him and squealed with delight.
“Oh, Eddie. You’re saying that I’m the girl who gave you your thunderbolt, aren’t you, and it hit you when you saw me that first day in class?”
“Yes, Jeanie. I felt the thunderbolt the moment I first saw you. My heart was pounding so hard and I couldn’t talk. I kept drinking water until I calmed down enough to start he lecture.”
Jeanie drew back from the embrace so she could look Eddie directly in the eyes.
“Eddie, I was struck by a thunderbolt, too, that same morning when I saw you walk into the classroom. My heart was racing so fast and I could hardly breathe—I mean, you literally took my breath away. I didn’t think of it as a thunderbolt until that Friday when you talked with us girls and told about your thunderbolt. At first, when you said you were single, I was excited because I thought you were available. But then, a minute later, you said you had recently been hit with a thunderbolt. I saw The Godfather, so I knew you had to be obsessed with her. I assumed she was professor and I was sad that you were off the market. But then you agreed to spank me so I figured she was okay with our arrangement or maybe she didn’t know yet. I mean it did start out purely as a ‘scholastic’ reminder and nothing more, but it’s certainly progressed beyond that. So here I am, the girl who caused the thunderbolt. And you caused my thunderbolt. Oh, Eddie, I’m so glad it’s me and I’m so glad it’s you! And I’m so glad there isn’t another girl.”
Eddie smiled warmly at the object of his affection. “I’m so glad, Jeanie, that it’s me and that it’s you. I was hesitant to tell you because I thought maybe you would think I’m too old for you.”
“Are you kidding? I’ve always been attracted to older guys. In high school, I always dated guys who were at least two years older. The Hollywood hunks to me were not the young ones. Sure, they were hot, but the hottest to me were the older ones. I’ve always felt that I would marry someone 15 to 20 years older than I am.”
“Wow! That’s good to know. That makes this all the easier.”
“Makes what easier?” she probed with a raised eyebrow.
“Before I get to that, I need to tell you a little back story.. Some people wonder why I’m still not married at the age of 37. I told you girls that Friday after class that the right girl hadn’t come along yet.
“When I was 23 years old, I almost got married to a girl that I had been dating for some time. She was a beautiful girl with long, blonde hair and penetrating brown eyes. We were really good friends and I thought I loved her enough to ask her to marry me. So one evening before I went to bed, I thought long and hard about her and did I want to marry her.
“And that night I had a dream…
“I was in the open area of the ‘quad’ at the center of campus, when I saw this girl I had been dating on the other side of the quad. She walked toward me smiling, and when she was close to me she reached out her hand so I reach out mine to take er hand, but she withdrew her hand. When she got near me, the smile left her face and she shook her head, no. Then she turned and walked away and eventually completely off campus.
“I saw many people, including other girls who approached and walked by me or turned and walked away. And then, in a moment, all of the peopled just faded away.
“I was completely alone, but then in the distance, across the campus, I saw a girl walking towards me. She was far away so it took quite some time before she was near enough for me to see her features. She was so beautiful. She had short, cropped, brunette hair that framed her beautiful face. She had bright, blue eyes that were filled with curiosity and kindness and her lips were curved up in what seemed like a perpetual smile. I could feel my heart pounding and I felt a shortness of breath.
“Then she spoke and her voice was the voice of an angel. She looked longingly at me and said just four words. ‘Please wait for me.’ And I immediately woke up, in a cold sweat, with my heart still pounding. I somehow managed to get back to sleep hoping I would dream of her again, but I didn’t dream at all.”
“I guess you could say, ‘I dreamed of Jeanie with the short brown hair,’ which almost matches a parlor song written in 1854 by Stephen Foster. His ballad entitled, I Dream of Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair was written to reach the woman named Jeanie who had left him. He didn’t know where she was and he hoped that she would hear the song and realize that he was singing about her. In the ballad he sang that he longed for her and his heart bowed low, never more to find her where the bright waters flow. He longed for and sighed for Jeanie with the light brown hair, floating like a vapor on the soft summer air.
“That sort of became my song as I dreamed of Jeanie with the short brown hair. For the next 14 years, I waited and watched and waited and watched some more. I longed for her and I sighed, wondering if I would ever find her. And then four weeks ago, I walked into a lecture hall and I saw you, the girl of my dreams, sitting on the front row. And that’s when the thunderbolt hit me.”
When Eddie finished, he just sat there with tears in his eyes. Jeanie reached up and kissed him lightly on his cheek.
“Oh, Eddie, what an incredible, touching story. You know, I didn’t have a dream about you, and I hardly had to wait for you, but I also had my own thunderbolt when I first saw you walk into the lecture hall. What do you think this all means?”
“Well, I know it may seem sudden, Jeanie, and it may seem too soon, but…” he paused to scoot up to the edge of the couch and he turned sideways towards Jeanie.
Jeanie’s eyes lit up with anticipation for what he was about to say. She scooted forward to the edge of the couch and turned to face him.
“Jeanie Kathryn Goodwin…” and he paused for dramatic effect, “…will you…
Jeanie’s eyes opened wider with hope as she realized what he was about to propose.
“…will you…
Eddie looked into Jeanie’s wide eyes.
“will you… give me another enema?”
A look of confusion crossed the girl’s face, then a wide grin, and then she burst into a fit of laughter. She laughed so hard she fell sideways onto the couch and held her crotch.
“I think,” she squealed, “I think I just peed myself… just a little… and you are going to pay for this with a hairbrush spanking and a sound paddling.”
“Well, I certainly deserve that and you can carry out that sentence soon, but first, my dear, sweet, adorable, very-hot, smokin’ hot Jeanie with the short brown hair, I do have a very serious question to ask you and your answer to the question will affect the two of us for the rest of our lives.”
Eddie helped Jeanie sit back up on the couch and then he got down in front of her on one bended knee. He looked deep into her eyes.
“Jeanie Kathryn Goodwin, I love you with all my heart and soul and I want to spend the rest of forever with you. Will you marry me?”
Jeanie lurched forward in a hug that toppled both of them to the floor. She was screaming and babbling into his shoulder, but he couldn’t understand a word of it.
“Is that a ‘Yes’ and you’re screaming with joy or is it a ‘No’ and you’re screaming in terror and you knocked me to the floor so you can get up and run for your life?”
Jeanie pull away slightly so she could look at Eddie face to face.
“Oh, you silly old man,” gushed Jeanie as she caught her breath. “Of course, it’s a ‘Yes.’ Edward Williams, I love you with all my heart and soul and I want to spend the rest of forever with you, too, so yes, a million times yes, I will marry you.”
“I am so glad I waited all these years to find you, Jeanie. You’ve made me the happiest man in the world. I’m so glad you’re the one.”
“And, Eddie, you’ve made me the happiest girl in the world and I’m so glad you’re the one. And to answer your other question, yes, I will give you another enema along with your hairbrush spanking and paddling.”
“A triple-combo event. I can’t wait.”
“Sorry to change the subject away from enemas and spankings, Eddie, but I want a little more closure on the other question. I know it’s kind of quick, but can we get married on the Christmas break before the winter semester starts?”
“That’s what I was hoping you would say. But I do want to ask your father for his permission to marry you.”
“A very traditional. Awesome! Then let’s go this weekend. It’s only a six-hour drive. I’ll call my parents and let them know we will be there tomorrow at noon.”
