Dental Playmates
The Day After
Peter woke up in his bed at home. The clock on the bedside table showed it was noon already, so he had missed his morning lectures. How could it be possible that he had slept so long? Gradually, he recalled the student party, kissing with Ann, and the dental office. But how did he get back home? Maybe it was all just a dream? At least the student party was real, there was a flyer for the event on his bedside table. Had someone spiked his drink in the party?
He rushed to check if he had all his belongings. His phone and wallet were on his study desk, just as usual. He had all his money and cards untouched. He opened his phone and browsed through all the social media and messaging apps he was using. He also logged in to his internet banking app to check his recent transactions. Nothing unusual. He hadn't even taken any new photos. Apparently, nothing special had happened the night before.
He remembered Ann telling him that he had many initial cavities and that he should see the dentist regularly. It could be true, he didn't take good enough care of his teeth. The dream was probably a sign from his subconscious that it was time to book a dental appointment, as it was too easy to procrastinate with that. He thought his subconscious must be very special if it sends such a lovely girl with cute teeth to remind him to see a dentist. He sighed and went to the bathroom to brush his teeth. He opened his mouth and looked in the mirror.
There was a large, shiny silver filling in his lower right first molar. And he had never had any silver fillings before.
