Rachel flinches as she feels the doctor’s gooey fingers slowly begin their invasion of her womanhood. She lifts her hips slightly as he pushes in deeper, making the table paper crinkle. His fingers finally bottom out, his knuckles pushed firmly against her labia majora. She feels him rotate his fingers 360 degrees as he presses against her vaginal walls. She then feels him pushing against her cervix, then he wiggles her cervix from side to side and front to back, and asks her if she feels any pain.

“It doesn’t really hurt as much as the pressure is very uncomfortable” Rachel replies. The doctor says “That’s actually a good sign, you don’t have any cervical motion tenderness. Now I am going to palpate your uterus, you will feel some pressure, if you have any pain let me know.”

Rachel only nods, embarrassed that everyone outside her cubicle heard the conversation, and knows that the doctor’s fingers are buried deep inside her vagina. She hears Sarah’s exam progressing, the sound of plastic clicks letting Rachel, and everyone else know, that poor Sarah is getting a speculum opened up inside her vagina. Four clicks later, all is quiet.

Rachel closes her eyes and bites her lower lip as she feels the doctor expertly palpating her uterus with his ungloved left hand, pressing firmly down on her buttery smooth lower abdomen. Satisfied all feels normal, the doctor says “Okay, all checks out good so far, now I’m going to palpate your ovaries. You will feel more pressure than before, the ovaries can be difficult to feel. Let me know if there’s any pain.”

Rachel keeps her eyes closed, trying to imagine she is anywhere but here right now. As the doctor palpates each ovary, Rachel firmly grips the edges of the exam table, and tenses her glossy stocking clad well toned thighs and calves, the pressure is getting intense. The doctor continues pressing down firmly on her left, then right lower abdomen with his ungloved left hand, as his gloved and well lubricated right index and middle fingers palpate each ovary thoroughly. He notes to himself how well toned her lower abdominal muscles are, how snug her vagina is, and how glossy the suntan nylon stockings are, how they really accentuate her well toned thighs.

As Rachel feels the doctor’s fingers finally slipping out of her, the pressure finally subsides. She hears Dr. Taylor telling Sarah that he will be closing and removing the speculum. Rachel is hoping that this is it, that she can sit up, and get dressed. She is almost holding her breath as she waits for the doctor to tell her to sit up. But her heart sinks as she sees him donning a fresh glove on his right hand with a loud snap. The doctor says “Now I’m going to perform a rectovaginal exam, have you ever had one before?” Rachel, bewildered by this, says “No, why do you need to do that?” The doctor replies “It allows me to assess the space between your vaginal and rectal walls, and to better palpate the posterior side of your uterus. It involves inserting a gloved and lubricated finger into your vagina and another gloved and lubricated finger into your rectum at the same time, then I will press down on your lower abdomen like before. It won’t hurt, and it will be over quickly, but you will feel more pressure than the bimanual exam.”

Rachel is stunned and even more humiliated. Everyone heard this, and everyone knows that the doctor will be double penetrating her with his fingers. She has never been penetrated anally before, and she is beyond humiliated that her first rectovaginal and/or rectal exam will be heard by an audience. Rachel watches the doctor lubricate his index and middle fingers of his gloved right hand. As he steps back in between Rachel’s wide open outstretched nylon stocking clad legs he says “You will feel me touching you now, take a slow deep breath and relax your bottom.”
