Nina realized her birth control prescription was going to run out soon, so she called the clinic to get it refilled. She was surprised to learn that she needed to have an office visit to do that. She realized she didn’t have much choice, so she made an appointment for later in the week.

All we need to do is a digital exam of your vaginal walls. It will be completely painless, and some patients even seem to enjoy it. Please scoot down and put your feet in the stirrups”. Nina was mortified. She had no idea this doctor was going to look at her vulva, let alone put his fingers inside her. She knew if she wanted the birth control, she was going to have to allow him to proceed.
