He left the room and I was left alone with my thoughts. "He said it won't hurt. Do I believe him? At least I don't have to worry about Alan anymore. And I'm so glad he didn't ask me to take off my clothes"

My spiraling thoughts got interrupted by Nurse C carrying 2 capped syringes already full.

"Ok Andy. We've done this before but this time will be much easier I promise. These 2 will go in your buttocks. One is for pain and one is the muscle relaxant which is the first in the series. Any questions?"

I shook my head. I was nervous. I didn't believe that it wasn't too painful.

"Ok please lie down for me and lower your pants and underwear" Said the nurse as the smell of alcohol inundated the room.

"Andy I need you to relax honey. I promise these won't hurt too much but I need you to take deep breaths for me" Nurse C said as she started disinfecting both cheeks

I listened and started breathing deeply.

"Ok here we go. Little pinch" she said as she stuck me. I closed my eyes and tried to relax. Knowing what was coming.

I started feeling the medicine. It didn't burn. It didn't sting. It was just slight pressure but it was not uncomfortable. Maybe they were right. Maybe this would be much easier like the doctor said.

"How are you doing there Andy?"

"I'm ok. It's not so bad compared to the pain in my back"

"You're definitely taking these much better" she joked as she withdrew the needle.

"Ok Andy one more. This one might sting a little but it won't be too bad I promise. You're doing great honey" she said as I felt a sharp pinch

I was so relieved that these shots were actually not that painful. The thought of going to get these on campus was much less stressful now.

"You're all set. I hope you feel better soon"
