A few last wishes

Part 54

Katie tries repeatedly to reassure Eric he did absolutely nothing wrong, but he is inconsolable, so she leaves and tries to find answers for him. Katie immediately recognizes Laura who has aged well since Julia was a baby, "I'm Eric's mother! How is your sweet baby?"

Hank lets out a hoarse, disgusting growl. "Give me one reason, why I shouldn't find out what room number your piece of shit son is in and rip his scrawny cancer ridden body from his head and spit on it?

Katie stands in front of the angry beast of a man in disbelief, "Excuse me???"

Hank continues hoping to make the woman in front of him break down in tears, "I know your boy better than you do. There is no way in hell Julia was driving that car. Your son is doped up on pain medicine and booze. My uncle died from the same thing, he was smart enough to stay off the road though."

"Eric WAS NOT driving or intoxicated, he wasn't even in the car when it crashed. ALL he did was help Julia out of the car, he did nothing wrong! And I don't care how much you are hurting now, if you threaten my son again I will shout out for security and force you to fight a grown woman!"

Hank scoffs, "Really? Tell me, did your piece of garbage boy ever tell you he broke into my house and violated my daughter?"

Laura puts her hand on Hank's chest, "Honey, Julia was wearing my police uniform standing above him with his pants down and a thermometer in his butt. Julia was a willing participant."

Katie seems absolutely revolted by this new information and Hank doubles down. "He tricked her! My baby just felt sorry for him because he was dying. Your son is a deranged pervert and begged her to do that to him. I should have had him arrested that night!"

A police investigator arrives and tries to diffuse the situation. "Please, Sir, if you can't calm down we will need to escort you out."

Hank gets a demonic shine in his eyes as he clenches his fist, "I would absolutely love to see you try and throw me out of this hospital. Wait until the press finds out you attacked and were beaten by the father of a car accident victim while leaving the driver of the vehicle who crashed the car unattended in his room."

The police investigator writes down Hank's information, "My understanding from the 911 recording is Julia Armstrong made an emergency call in distress asking for assistance from police to help her control her vehicle. Is this information incorrect? Was the crash victim identifying as a transitioning male named Julia or a biological male named Julian?"

Hank appears genuinely perplexed by the officer's political correctness, Laura again puts her hand on Hank's chest trying to sooth his crazy mind, "Julia is our daughter and she is an 18 year old biological female. Officer, did I hear you right, the car wouldn't stop and that is why it crashed?"

"Ma'am, I am still in the middle of the investigation, but we he have someone examining the vehicle as we speak. Initial reports along with your daughter's call to dispatch corroborates it is a very strong possibility there were multiple malfunctions with the vehicle."

Hank begins to pace even more furiously, "So you are telling me some damn automotive manufacturer put my daughter in the hospital and no one will tell me if she will be ok?"

Laura puts her hands on Hank's face, "You listen to me! Your daughter needs you to be strong when she wakes up from surgery and YOU ARE NOT going to be in a jail cell beating your fists against the bars. And let me tell you something else. Once you calm down you are going to apologize to Eric's mom for your incredibly cruel and angry words and let her know you didn't mean any of them and are simply too hurt to think straight."

Hank sits down like a scolded boy and wipes his gushing tears from his eyes.
