The results of the rectal thermometery study has been finalized and the news is not good. Mike Wells has called emergency interviews with all of the nurses and even Leo himself. Angela is with him presently. The four nurses sit nervously, as Leo walks over. Lily sees this as an opportunity to lighten the girl's moods, "Oh Leo, how's the foot, let me help you sit down." Lily gently helps him down when his foot is in the the clear and forcefully pushes his shoulders down forcing his butt into the chair"

"Ouch, ouch ouch, ouch". Leo sucks through his teeth feeling the burn on his sore buttcheeks."

Lily smiles mischievously, "Oh my, you didn't land on your foot from what I saw is something else hurting you instead?"

Leo squirms awkwardly. "I ummm, fell on my butt the other day trying not to put pressure on my foot and it is still kinda sore."

Lily feigns sympathy, "Well, after the meeting let one of us nurses take a look. It's not like we haven't seen your tush before. Enid, Katie, Mary would you mind? I could take a look for you, I wouldn't mind.

Angela suddenly walks out of Mike's office quietly sobbing and leans over and kisses Leo gently on the lips, " No, I'm fine. Everything is ok, I think Mike wants to speak with you next. Here let me help you up. Here are your crutches, Babe."

Leo spends ten minutes in the office, then leaves and now Mike calls the other four nurses into the office as Angela helps him sit down next to her, then embraces him and sobs into his shirt.

The ladies sit down all a bit misty-eyed themselves. Mike shuts the door pacing back and forth, "Look, I will be quick and to the point and blunt. We got the results back from the study and it is a freaking disaster! Cal blames Angela for the whole telehealth idea and wants her fired immediately."

All the ladies start crying and trying to take the blame saying it was their idea. Mary stands up and tells all the girls to stop lying and admits it is her idea and wants to resign in lieu of Angela being fired. Enid begins shouting loudly as she cries, "Why isn't Annie being fired? She approved of the whole homecare idea, and we all know damn well she probably did something to mess it up anyway."

Mike shouts over all the nurses leaving them whimpering softly, "I know that! I am not a freaking idiot! I even know the damn minute Annie injected Leo in the abdomen. His damn rectal temperature didn't just happen drop 4 degrees right before he left then return to its daily average when he suddenly came home! We need proof who did it and Leo says he was sedated and doesn't remember being injected in the abdomen.

Mary refuses to give up, "Does it even matter that Annie injected him with sedation so he couldn't remember during the very time his temperature was changing so rapidly?"

"No, it doesn't matter one damn iota! Cal is convinced Angela is some stupid bimbo who is so in love with her patient and she can't even record simple math correctly. You know what Cal said to me? You know what he said? He said the only way he is ever getting financially involved with this hospital ever again, is if I send my stupid bimbo nurse over to conduct a study under his supervision on all my nursing staff. And get this he wants you all to submit to having your temperature taken rectally by my bimbo nurse because my hospital loves unnecessary butt procedures so much. He was so furious, he actually faxed me over the document and had his lawyers draw it up just to humiliate me!"

The nurses suddenly stop crying and Katie speaks up, "So you are telling us if Angela does a butt thermometer study the hospital gets its funding back and Angie keeps her job? Then just have us sign the papers and send them back fast so he will be forced to agree?"

Mike freezes in disbelief..."Three years ago Annie submitted a policy that all her nurses be subjected to rectal temperature taking by one another as a part of a sensitivity training course. Angela Rose approved of that policy and you four all threatened to quit on the spot if Annie was allowed to enforce it and leave Angela to be our only nurse left in the ward. I spent months battling Annie on this, are you seriously telling me you all...now... want to join a study in which Cal, who no doubt hates me and all of you and has no qualms about embarrassing us all to study you like guinea pigs?"

The girls stand together and in unison shout, "Yes!"

Twenty minutes later the four girls sign the last of consent forms. Everyone is leaving in celebration and embracing beyond blissful that they can leave and give Angela wonderful news. Enid sits down carefully examining the document.

Mike exhales loudly as if he has just passed a baseball sized kidney stone, "You girls sure saved me and this hospital today. This hospital hasn't made a profit in over 5 years, you really saved my butt today. Let me know if there is anything you ever need.

Enid smiles warmly, "I am happy to agree to all the conditions as written here, it's just one personal request I was thinking about, it doesn't even need to be agreed to, more of a favor, do you think Cal would be open to that?

"Well, it depends what it is. What did you have in mind?

Enid puts the pen in her mouth and taps on her perfectly straight white teeth, "Well, I am at peak fertility age. Don't get me wrong, I am not with anyone and have no plans to get pregnant. It's just since we are doing a temperature study and I feel very safe with Angie... Would your friend Cal be willing to do both rectal and vaginal measurements to confirm abdominal pin readings? I have to admit I am curious about the possible ramifications for charting ovulation."

"Definitely interesting. I'll tell you what. Once I get Angela in here and her consent forms finalized, I will shoot the idea passed him, sound ok?"

"Sure does, thanks, Doc." Enid gives her hips some extra sway as she exits and sees Angela about to enter.

Angela shakes her hands by her face in a desperate attempt to avoid losing control of her emotions," I... I love you girls so much, you saved my job and I am so..."

Enid immediately stops Angela's breakdown by shocking her with a hard kiss on the lips, "You can thank me later."
