Bobby's new life
Part 1 - We meet Bobby
I had four rooms in my house that I let out to tenants. I usually preferred to let them out to girls, on account of them generally causing much less trouble than boys. And I had a strict over-18s policy – I had no wish to need to keep an eye on what anyone underage might get up to.
When Evie left to take up a job in Paris, we all wished her well, and began the search for a new housemate. I asked the girls if they knew anyone, but after a few days of asking around they’d drawn a blank. So I placed an ad on the local Facebook group.
I was quite surprised by the response. I got two or three middle-aged men, a couple of seventeen-year-olds (even though I’d clearly stated 18+ only), a woman in her forties and one eighteen year old young man.
I interviewed one of the middle-aged men, but I wasn’t at all sure he’d fit in in a house of twenty-something females. The forty-year-old woman was nice enough, but again, I wasn’t sure she’d really fit in. And she was a smoker, which I couldn’t allow in my house. So that left Bobby, the eighteen-year-old.
I invited him round to the house one evening, and was impressed that he arrived five minutes before he was due, and was most polite. The girls were around to meet him too, as it was important to me that they felt comfortable with any new housemate. Bobby blushed a deep shade of red when Scarlett appeared in just a pair of short shorts and a tight-fitting t-shirt. Then Kiera came in from work in her black leather mini-skirt, and he blushed even more. When Summer came downstairs in her little black dress, black stockings and high heels, ready for a night out, I thought he might explode. I got a very strong impression that he wasn’t at all experienced with women.
But he seemed harmless enough, and when Scarlett asked him if he was any good at cooking, and he replied that he used to work as a chef in a hotel in the New Forest, it was decided – he’d be the new housemate.
We agreed he’d move in that weekend, he paid the deposit, and we shook hands as he left.
Once he’d gone the girls were SO excited.
“OMG!” squealed Summer, “Our very own chef!”
“I wonder what else he can do!” giggled Kiera, mischievously.
“I bet he can mix a mean cocktail, if you know what I mean!” laughed Scarlett.
“Now, now, girls,” I admonished. “Just because he’s only eighteen and obviously a bit shy, there’s no need to think naughty thoughts. I'm sure he’ll be a lovely addition to our household, and you all need to be kind to him.”
The girls agreed, but I could tell they were looking forward to having such an innocent young man in the house.
