A few weeks had gone by and everything was back to the same mundane day to day prescriptions and common colds.

Nothing else had happened like what had happened three weeks ago. No more overly sensitive and excitable, easily arousabale patients.Which was probably a good thing.

My receptionist was not herself for about two days after. Her mind was off some where else. She was very embarrassed the morning after about what happened during the female patients physical.

I told her it was okay, she had acted very professionally during the exam, and not to let what had happened to the female patient bother her.

I told her I couldn't really blame her. I had never seen anything like that happen before. She thanked me for understanding.

After two days she was back to normal and everything else was back to the same day to day.I arrived at the clinic about nine o'clock my receptionist was there and sitting at the front desk. I told her good morning and she said hello. I asked what was on the agenda for this morning and she said only a couple of routine appointments for med checks.

I asked how she was doing she said she was doing good and started to say she was sorry for how she had behaved three weeks ago. I told her it was over and to quiet worrying about it.

I asked her why it was bothering her so much? She said she really didn't know. It was how it had made her feel. I asked if she wanted to explain it to me.

If so I would listen. She said she supposed she could try I was a doctor after all.I told her we had some time if she was up to it and if not that was fine also. She said she would try but it was embarrassing. I asked her why? She started out by saying that watching everything that had happened to that female patient.

She had never seen stuff like that before. I told that she was a female she has had the same stuff done to her. She said yes some of it but not everything. I asked not everything? She said no not everything.

I went on and asked her to tell me. She said she had never had a rectal exam. I questioned this? I said you must have had one. She said only a rectovaginal, never just a rectal exam. And watching that patient get one and everything that happened to her when I was giving her the exam it did something to her. She became very embarrassed and looked away from me and then sheepishly told me. It aroused me.

I told her not to worry about it the more she sees it she'll get used to it.Then jokingly I asked her if she wanted one. I would give her one it'll only take a few minutes. She said no and smiled.

Then I told her all joking aside maybe she should start see a little more of what goes on behind the exam room doors. So she can start getting used to it.Then I asked if she had ever witnessed a male receive a physical exam. She looked at me and told me no.

I asked if she thought she would want too. She thought about it and told me she guessed it wouldn't hurt it anything. It would probably be a good idea to learn.

I agreed and told her to plan on it in the future. When the time is right I will work it out.

I told her she already acts as my nurse. I will just explain it to the patient that she is assisting me and is in training. That she already wears scrubs and looks like a nurse. And that she has already had some nurses schooling she might as continue her education. She looked at me and smiled and told me thanks.

The morning was finally over my two appointments had showed up on time and done by noon. I heard the phone ring and my receptionist answer and I was able to hear the one sided conversation.

Yes we do physicals hear. Yes annual physicals. Have you been here before? No you haven't ok I understand. Will you be able to bring your records? No ok yes we can do this. Oh okay your husband also? Yes the doctor will do both. Yes yours and your husbands. Oh I see you want joint physicals at the same time. Yes I think the doctor will do this. First one then the other but you both want to examined together? Yes I think he will do this he is pretty easy going.

Then I could hear my receptionist asking if they both would be able to come in this afternoon for blood work and urine samples.Yes ok good see you soon and bring any insurance information also. Ok thank you good bye.

I walked up front and asked what was going on my receptionist told me a lady just called in, and her and her husband both need physicals and are coming in for labs today and then are coming in for physicals tomorrow morning. But they want to examined together. I told her fine here is your chance to learn. I will definitely need some help.

The couple showed for there labs. They were a nice couple in there early thirties. I did the blood draws my receptionist did the urine samples. They were told to show up at nine o'clock in the morning. And we would see them then. Once they left we both went and prepared a exam room for tomorrow.

Everything thing we would need for a complete gyn exam. And everything we would need for the males physical. We discussed how we would do this. We would ask them to disrobe completely and put gowns on them, then just ask who was going first. We brought a chair in so there was a place for the one waiting to sit and observe.

This was unusual but if it's what they want way not. By the time we were done setting up the room it was four thirty and time to go home we locked up and said good night. We would both be in at eight am.
